ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

An award this year for scholarship groups has allowed us to schedule
about 2,000 students into the month of September. Last year, we had
only 500 students in September. We fulfill on our obligation, and keep
general school group numbers from getting too big in November and
December.

I am proposing another award for 2011 to provide a FREE month for all
residents in the surrounding county. Planning to maximize the services
to students and the community at one of our slowest periods is a focus
for September.

> Everyone,

> Most of our local schools are back in session, and we are starting our

> slow season. Families are not on vacation, as they are in the summer,
> and school groups are not yet taking field trips. In September and the

> beginning of October, our attendance drops by about thirty percent. We

> are spending some of the time cleaning, moving exhibits, and training
> staff, and we do not have the additional expenses of seasonal workers
