The Techbridge Summer Training Institute is returning this August 4-6 in
Oakland, California...
Are you interested in developing a program to encourage girls in technology,
engineering and science? Would you like to gain girl-tested, hands-on
curriculum and learn strategies for success?

"Your summer institute was one of the best that I've attended. The
curriculum that you've developed over the years was thoughtfully designed
and you really delivered a nice overview of the program over the three day
period." - Past participant

Join us at the Techbridge Summer Training Institute in Oakland, CA from
August 4-6, 2008! This 3-day workshop will teach participants strategies for
encouraging girls in technology, science and engineering.
Techbridge has served over 2,000 girls through after-school and summer
programs over the past 8 years, working closely with teachers, parents, role
models and corporate partners. Founded by Chabot Space & Science Center,
Techbridge offer hands-on projects developed for girls and career
exploration activities such as field trips to companies and role model
visits. The Summer Training Institute shares our best practices and
curriculum while providing the tools and framework for achieving success to
engage girls in technology and science. Topics will include:

• Mission and underlying philosophy – why we do it and how we accomplish
our mission
• Structuring the program model – what works well, what doesn't and
lessons learned
• Critical success factors for launching a successful program for girls
• Recruitment and engagement – strategies for recruiting and retaining
girls
• Curriculum– training on our hands-on curriculum designed for girls,
including Green Design, Cars & Engines, and other modules
• Role models and field trips – how to plan a successful visit with role
models and corporate partners
• Evaluation –designing surveys and collecting feedback
• Action planning – participants will develop a concrete action plan for
implementation

A registration fee will cover the 3-day Training Institute; participants
will also receive a CD-ROM containing all of Techbridge's hands-on
curriculum. Due to the hands-on nature of the curriculum, we highly
encourage two participants of the same organization to attend the training
together. The fee for one participant is $750; for two from the same
organization $1,000. Register at
http://wwwtechbridgegirls.org/programs_institute.asp by the deadline of June
30th - spaces are limited!

"This is the best workshop I've ever been to. It's nice to see good
teaching practices used in a workshop rather than just talking about them."
