In the competitive cultural marketplace, effective marketing, public relations and development strategies are catalysts for relevant and sustainable programming, positive public participation, strong community relationships, and much needed sponsor and donor support. The University of Victoria is offering Marketing and Development in Cultural Organizations, an exciting six-day immersion course that explores key principles and practices in both marketing and development and uses case studies to strengthen your ability to:

 

* relate institutional mission and goals to community needs

* conduct consumer research

* analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that shape your approach to marketing

* develop a responsive marketing mix, along with strategies for building and evaluating effective product, price, promotions and distribution methods

* build an integrated and compelling development strategy that matches institutional fundraising needs with potential donors and sponsors

* create effective, timely, and sustained public relations and communications strategies 

 

Dates: October 31 - November 5, with a preparatory assignment Please register by: October 15

Fee: $590, including a $40 materials fee (Canadian funds, credit and non-credit participation options)

Location: Victoria, British Columbia

 

Instructor: Risė Paquette is the Director of Development and Fundraising Services and National Campaign Director for the Canadian Museum of Nature. As the former Chief of Marketing for the Canadian Museum of Nature and as a marketing specialist for the National Museum of Science and Technology, Canada Post, and Johnson & Johnson Ltd., Risė has extensive experience developing successful product mixes and building effective price, promotion, and distribution strategies.
