Hi Pete, unfortunately I don't know my way around WA as well as I should
(considering I'm on the other side of the world ;) However, I can recommend
a popular series of analog scope that is very cheap, yet very robust. The
Tektronix 7000 series scopes are several years old, but were the staple of
the professional technician world for many years, and are available quite
cheap on the used market. They are mainframe devices, meaning you get a box
with a CRT, and a few empty plugin bays on the front. Then you choose what
to put in to make the scope what you want it to be. You'd need at least one
vertical amplifier, and one timebase amplifier, but you could add dual
channel amplifiers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.

Most reputable used electronics stores will know what you are talking about
if you ask for 7000 series equipment, and many will probably have some
stuff in stock. Used equipment is more of a hassle to buy and test than new
equipment, but if you are persistant, you can get a great scope for very
little money.

Here is a page of information about the series:

Good luck,

I am trying to get hold of a fairly cheap robust oscilloscope for a
science experiment kit, can anyone help me with suppliers, especially in
WA.
