ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

I am working on both an article (for AAM's Museum Magazine) and a new
book (due out next fall) which will focus on inclusion of children,
teens, adults and families with autism in museums and other community
settings. Does your museum/zoo/aquarium etc. have a specific program,
event, policy, specialist, etc. to ensure appropriate inclusion? Have
you had success with including classes, families, individual teens or
adults? Possibilities could include -

    * Special events, evenings, programs for families with autistic kids
    * Policies you've developed to make inclusion easier
    * Tweaks you've made to exhibits, visit planning materials, tours,
classes etc. that are designed to make inclusion possible and
      successful
    * Positions you've created at the museum to work with
      families/kids/teens/adults with developmental challenges including
      autism
    * special opportunities you've developed for people on the autism
      spectrum

I'm hoping to find examples of all kinds of inclusion - "special"
programs, supported inclusion, reverse inclusion, and so forth.

Please let me know, as I'd love to interview you (and request any photos
you can share). I'd also appreciate any leads you can provide regarding
such programs/offerings, whether at a museum or in another community
setting (youth groups, clubs, sports/recreation, drama, art, camps,
etc.). Please do pass this email along as appropriate!

All the best,

Lisa Jo Rudy
