dear astc-ers,

i read an article recently on examining the production of the terracotta warriors, which were produced/reproduced assembly-line style. the faces are individual, but the body types were mass produced with the help of molds and a labor force dedicated to specific body parts with an elaborate throwing/drying/firing schedule. this is not so much a science of pottery, but a science of management and systemization.

i wonder, what is technology when the major components are "soft", like labor, ingenuity, time, experience, etc. would the chinese themselves consider this to be technology or culture?
