Spitz ESkyII to Power Fulldome Video Showcase at ASTC 2005 Annual Conference

Spitz, Inc. is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Association of Science and Technology Centers' second Fulldome Video Showcase, to be presented at this year's annual ASTC conference in Richmond, VA. A sampling of the work of the world's best and most interesting digital dome artists will be screened at the Science Museum of Virginia's Ethyl IMAX® Dome Theater, on Monday, October 17 at 1:30 PM.

The special 75-minute Fulldome Video Showcase will launch Big Screen Day at ASTC, which features screenings of the latest large-format films. The IMAX Dome theater will be fitted with a temporary ESky IIä fulldome video display system provided by Spitz, Inc. The system is the highest resolution and brightest single-lens fisheye projection system available. Last year's event in San Jose featured the work of more than 15 producers; this year, we have expanded the program with a variety of new content and contributors. Presentations will include scientific visualizations, show trailers and excerpts, as well as experimental, music and art productions.

All Fulldome Showcase productions were produced using a 1536x1536 pixel polar fisheye frame called a dome master. These frames are played back from a digital hard drive player and are fed to the high-resolution projection system. Dual projectors are employed to achieve sufficient brightness for the Science Museum of Virginia's 23-meter dome screen. Our presentations also take advantage of the theater's surround-format audio system.

With nearly 150 fulldome video theaters in operation around the world, a dozen new theaters opening each year, and more than 30 digital films in distribution, fulldome video is coming of age. We invite you to explore with us as we pioneer new storytelling devices, special effects, artistic environments and more.

For more information, check with a Spitz representative at the Spitz booth on the ASTC trade show floor, or with an ASTC representative. Admission to the event is free to ASTC registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We hope to see you there!
