Going APE Workshop Announcement

Achieving Active Prolonged Engagement (APE): Shifting Visitor Behavior

A hands-on workshop hosted by the Exploratorium
September 22-24, 2004

The Exploratorium has been involved in a three-year research project to
develop exhibits that encourage visitors to become more actively engaged
with exhibit phenomena‹to use exhibits as tools for prolonged, self-directed
exploration.

Please join Exploratorium staff to investigate design strategies we feel
have been successful in promoting APE visitor behavior. During this
three-day, hands-on workshop, participants will tinker with exhibits, review
APE research findings, and discuss ways these strategies can be implemented
in the field.

… Workshop dates: September 22-24, 2004 (immediately after the 2004 ASTC
Annual Conference)

… 28 participants

… Airfare, lodging, and meals paid by the Exploratorium (airfare can be
scheduled to include travel to the ASTC Annual Conference)

… Preference for two individuals per museum‹one person responsible for the
development of exhibits and one person who supports the process (e.g.:
educator, researcher, evaluator, or administrator).

… Priority given to small and medium-sized museums.

An application and more details will be available shortly.
