A few thoughts (proffered in ignorance of what sort of space you might
have to do these sorts of thing)

1) create a large water wheel ( either linked to a generator set, or
kinetic sculpture of some sort to ) the wheel might be made from
scaffold pipe and water buckets. again with scaffold build a flight of
stairs to a vantage point above the wheel, and an inflatable wading pool
under the wheel to store and capture the water. create a bucket brigade
of people to carry water to the top ( don't have them walk or run - law
suits for certain), but either pass the buckets, or pour the water from
bucket to bucket ( see have small losses in a system can add up (
energy system efficiency messages ?)

2) solar co-operative challenge - mount a good sized solar panel up in a
good vantage point. hook the output up to ???? and hand out mirrors to
the crowd, and get them to direct their individual beams to the cell..
"lots of small contributions add up"..

good luck
