When I was at the science center, we used to actually puchase blocks of dry ice from an ice cream store - since they have their ice cream shipped to them that way and use it for their deliveries as well, they were usually willing to sell the dry ice to us.  The nice thing is you could always pick up a box of ice cream sandwiches at the same time if you got the sweet tooth munchies!  :)
