Hi Martin,

Thanks for sending out your query to list. I am very interested in exploring the idea of presenting with you. Or, if this study doesn't seem to fit with your goals, to seek out other presenters for whom this would fit.

Currently we are conducting evaluation research on our enhanced fieldtrip programs. The sample size of our study is 20 classes (500 students). The goals of the evaluation are to understand the motivations, prior knowledge and backgrounds of teachers, students and chaperones. It is a mixed methods evaluation with pre and post visit survey that include both multiple choice and open-ended questions. Interviews will be conducted with 3 classes in the sample population.

The enhanced fieldtrips consist of teacher led pre-visit activities, a 1-hour student program connected to our aquarium themes and free-choice learning time in the exhibits.

The study itself will be completed by June 2011.

If this interests you, please let me know and we can chat more. If this doesn't fit and you find that there are other people who contact you that are along similar lines, feel free to send them my way!

Best,

Lindzy Bivings

Colleagues

I am hoping to propose a panel to ASTC Baltimore 2011 about understanding visitor learning in museum exhibitions or programs.

If you have a program or project like this or remotely like this and you are interested in presenting your findings lets talk off line about this.

Please pass this along.

Martin
