Newer model Brightsign units sometimes need GPIO button board <http://www.brightsign.biz/products/button_board.php>. In the picture you can see little buttons on the board itself, but those are just for convenience -- you can wire the Happ buttons to it.

Hi Seth: I have used Brightsign/Roku units for several years......They are very easy to program with external pushbuttons. I know they have made changes to the models and now offer an authoring software - you can go here to see a demo:

http://www.brightsign.biz/presentations.php

Used to be you could use a simple excel spread sheet to create a matrix that tied putton push to file....don't know if that is still supported or not, but their programming documentation, I see, is still there.

In addition, I have found their technical support people to be very responsive....posting on their B.B, or sending a message has always gotten me a specific answer....they used to use a rs232 connector; I would purchase male plugs and solder my wires according to their diagrams. Had these in operation at several sites, one for over 4 years without a hiccup, except for having to replace worn out flash cards that had cycled one too many times...

Holler if you have a specific question and I'll see what I can do to not lead you astray (no promises!)
