Hello, all:
We have upgraded our internet service, building a whole new network infrastructure (thanks Cisco Foundation!) and a big ol pipeline out to the internet. We are now trying to be thoughtful about how to make public access work.
According to our IT guy, it is important to get users to agree to a user agreement before we provide free access, in case they use our access points do something that causes legal trouble. It makes sense to me (I miss the techno utopian days...) Also we don't want every phone to jump on our network by default when they could do just as well with their 4g data service.
So we are thinking of a model that has a password on our ticket that changes weekly or something along those lines, and then they get to the kind of sign in page that you would get in a hotel or at Starbucks, simply agreeing to our terms putting in their names and the password.
Do any of you provide completely open 3G? Do any of you use the system we are describing?
We're grateful for any feedback.
thanks in advance
