I don't operate the microscope in our museum, but I am a microscope and
camera enthusiast and have taken lots of photos and videos through my
scope. You can actually take an awesome photo simply by holding a camera up
to the eyepiece, so that's all your mount really needs to do. Mine is made
of cardboard and works just fine, and the image I can get with a point and
shoot is of much higher quality than our scope on a rope. If your funding
limited I would recommend prioritizing finding a camera that can tether to
your projector in real time and not worrying about the mount, as you could
make a pretty robust one with just an hour or two in the wood shop, or by
setting the camera up on a tripod. That's just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.
