ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Good Afternoon,

I'm planning an ASTC session based on bringing astronomy out of the planetarium and onto the gallery floors. At the CT Science Center we are developing a gallery program focused on allowing museum visitors to use astronomical software like Maxim DL to create amazing color pictures of deep sky objects. We will explain the science of what is going on in the image and how the unique way each guest processed the image tells them a different story about the object. Also we are developing a program where guests will reduce eclipsing binary star data and find out the physical characteristics of the system along with making their own model eclipsing binary star system. We will also have an all sky camera set up and creating a program about star movement, meteors, and clouds. Or main goal is the show the public the science that astronomers do and that it is more than just naming stars and looking for exotic objects like black holes.

So if you are creating a similar program or your museum has a program like this already and you would like to participate as a presenter in this session please let me know.

Thank you,
Robert Wilkos
