I also love trebuchets!

Here's one I made purely for my own personal satisfaction several weeks ago
to match designs seen in medieval drawings. It stands about eight feet tall
and throws a heavy rubber 'dog ball' about 200 feet when its counterweight
is fully loaded with bags of sand.

These photographs show it with an almost empty counterweight bucket, gently
tossing water-balloons a much shorter distance at young people who
enthusiastically donated to a Ugandan orphanage in payment for being
targets!

It was play, not work, hence the unusually relaxed health-and-safety
constraints, though I was still being extremely careful...

Give people facts and you feed their minds for an hour.
Awaken curiosity and they feed their own minds for a lifetime.
