How about a visit to Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana? We're the 2008 Louisiana Association of Educators "Friend of Education," one of the Top 9 Places to Work in Louisiana (according to Louisiana Life) and one of the Parents magazine's "10-Best Science Centers for Families." More about us at www.sciport.org. Shreveport is a unique mid-size southern city with great food and awesome people. We hope to see all of you!

In early Oct., I'll likely travel from Montgomery (Birmingham?) or
Jackson in a figure 8 or circle route* by car with a bit of time on my
hands, taking in the 4 states in Subject. About 1500 miles in 10 days. I
wouldn't mind seeing some science museums, observatories and nature
centers. Any "must see" such sites? LIGO, and Huntsville are on the
list. I'll undoubtedly take in historic locations of the south. I live
near Sacramento. Suugestions (Subject)?

* More like a triangle with tips at Augusta, Memphis, New Orleans (LIGO).
