Hello,

An easy solution is a digital video player, such as MedeaWiz.

http://www.medeawiz.com/

For ~$200, you can pop in a CF card with Jpeg images and it will output a
slide show to an external monitor or TV. Slightly more expensive units can
update over the network and output HD (perhaps follow a set schedule too?).

Or for scheduling, just have cheap $10 CF cards of each presentation and pop
them in as needed. They start playing automatically when they are plugged
in.

When you no longer need the digital signage, use the video player for a
pushbutton kiosk or sound repeater. Much more robust than worrying about
computers, or dealing with consumer DVD players. Fits in a space the size
of a textbook.
