ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

How do we promote creative and open-minded leadership given the
controversial nature of many of the issues facing science centers? Join us
at the 2008 ASTC Annual Conference for the many sessions, workshops, and
networking events of special interest to CEOs and senior management
including:

CEO Reflections on Leadership, Saturday, October 18.

Nancy Stueber (OMSI, Portland, Oregon) will interview three prominent CEOs
about their leadership styles and strategies for leading for change, taking
risks, and leading in the context of public scrutiny. Join this sequel to
one of last year's top-ranked sessions and pose your questions to a new
panel of exemplary leaders.

Informational Open House: Noyce Leadership Institute Programs, Saturday,
October 18.

Come learn about Noyce Leadership Institute (NLI) programs open to CEOs who
are relatively new on the job and senior professionals whose next career
step is to prepare for a CEO role. Sheila Grinell and Lynn Luckow (NLI) will
meet informally at 2:00 p.m. with CEOs and at 3:30 p.m. with aspiring
leaders.

ASTC Future Planning Forum: Advancing the Impact of Science Centers
Globally, Monday, October 20.

A forum for members to give input on ASTC's new strategic direction, based
on this year's board retreat and efforts of smaller working groups to
articulate the priorities, plans, and potential role of ASTC going forward.
An opportunity to discuss how science centers, locally and globally, can
have an even greater impact in today's world context, and how ASTC can most
effectively support its members in achieving that impact. Facilitated by
Bill Booth (Booth Learning).

Managing a Building Renewal: Lessons Learned at the Franklin Institute,
Monday, October 20.

Learn how the Franklin Institute managed a five-year renovation of every
space in its 70-year-old building while still meeting visitor expectations
and increasing visitorship. Come away with practical tools to guide your
future renewal program. Led by Walter Crimm (Ewing Cole) with Dennis Wint
and Richard Rabena (the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia).

VP Dialogue, Saturday, October 18.

Join in the discussion of life as a VP and the challenges of translating
vision into reality while maintaining the delicate balance of leadership.
This annual networking session is led by Jennifer Martin (TELUS World of
Science-Calgary) and Mat Sinclair (OMSI).

CEO/Trustee Reception and Luncheon, Sunday, October 19.

An informal opportunity to get acquainted, network, and explore issues of
mutual interest. Preregister, $38.
