ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

In the early 1940s, before the age of computers, Pittsburgh's original Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular Science had weather sensors mounted on a pipe on the roof (actually, outdoor East Wing of the Astronomical Observatory) with weather instruments mounted in the first floor's Great Hall, so the public could immediately see current weather conditions.

In the early 1980s, a smaller version of such weather instruments were mounted just outside the east doors to the Astronomical Observatory.
