We've been getting bombarded with mail from various sources touting the
premise that there are new ways to raise money by using a "simple add on" to
our website.  Basically this is all about encouraging visitors to go to an
institution's website, and then click on a link which brings them to another
site to do their shopping.. and then a percentage of whatever they spend
gets kicked back to the originating organization. 

 

We've heard from or of eMall, Goodsearch, and Amazon, and a few others.. all
who say this will "bring in the bucks to YOUR institution."  

 

So.. I'm wondering whether anyone on this listserve has any experience with
this - Has your institution looked into this? Is anyone using it? Does it do
what it says it does? Is it worth the time and energy to set up? We are also
concerned with sharing our "institutional brand" with one of these sites..
and envision difficulties with a variety of issues that could possibly
affect our name and "brand."
