Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital is hiring a Program
Specialist to develop and implement general and science/environmental
program services for girls. Excellent communication and presentation
skills with interest in program development. Girl Scout knowledge a

This position works with many DC-area sites, including museums and
national parks. This job is located in GSCNC's DC office in Northwest
DC.

                                                        POSITION
DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                Program Specialist

REPORTS TO:           Manager, Program Services

PRIMARY AREAS OF WORK:  Develops and implements general program services
for girls and troops.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:  

Creates, develops, writes and interprets general program and other
resource materials and services related to Girl Scout Program
implementation.

Creates, develops, writes and interprets science and environmental
program materials.

Tests and evaluates program activities and other program opportunities
for girls and assists in drafting standards and practices for volunteer
support and assistance.

Assures adult and volunteer participation in program development and
establishes guidelines for community collaboration in the development of
programs for girls.

Develops and maintains partnerships with outside organizations for
program delivery.

Serves as resource consultant, liaison and advisor for program
activities involving assigned staff and volunteers.  Also serves in an
advisory capacity to other staff concerning the development,
implementation and delivery of program services to girls.

Ensures that program participation including numbers served, geographic
area, program level, and ethnic heritage are reported accurately and in
a timely manner.

Ensures that participation in program events is inclusive and
representative of all jurisdictions within the Council.

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience.

Knowledge and experience in human service and volunteer environment.

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

Excellent presentation skills and ability to interact effectively in a
public setting.

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources and projects.

Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule consisting of
frequent, evening and weekend meetings and activities.

Must have access to an automobile for travel within the jurisdiction.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates with professional Girl Scout
experience.
