They're relatively expensive, but if you want a good inquiry-based
table-top activity for sun safety, I would invest in a bunch of
UV-reactive beads (plastic pony beads that change color when exposed to
UV).  A dish or strand of those, a source of sunlight, and an array of
sunblock lotion, sunglasses, umbrella material, etc. is all you need -
kids can then test the effectiveness of different methods of protection.
Something to think about.

The Environmental Protection Agency's SunWise Program has developed sun 
safety programs and activities for younger children along with community

partnership workshops to train science center staff, teachers, and
parents. 
The website lists science centers and museums that have hosted the
