There are lots of things you can buy off the shelf now, and  
electronics are a lot easier to work with than they used to be - with  
some kind of sensor you can make anything into an interface. And lots  
of people do video tracking now - which means you don't have to touch  
anything at all.

But all this comes with huge usability challenges, so design and  
instructions have to be really clear or else people will either not  
get it or just play with the technology (unless that's what you want  
them to do). Nice piece of research about this:
