Hello, all:

Last year the Hall of Science created a beautiful catalog of the art
work we had commissioned, purchased, or otherwise acquired over the
past 20 years. It is the first catalog of art work in a science
center that I know about, though of course many science centers have
worked with art. In any case, we are very proud of the work, and
have now made it available as a download from our website:

http://www.nyscience.org/pressroom/publications

Scroll down a bit, and you can download the PDF.

The PDF doesn't quite reflect the elegance of the design, which was
done in-house by our Art Director, Xanthe Willer. There is a rich
and insightful essay by Anne Balsamo, who is a scholar of the impact
of multimedia experiences at the University of Southern California
and the founder of the Palo Alto exhibition design firm, onomy.
American Express funded the project.

I would be glad to hear your reactions to this publication. We are
hoping that it encourages others to consider the function of art in
science centers.
