ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Pittsburgh's original Buhl Planetarium and Institute
of Popular Science [a.k.a. Buhl Science Center] built
one of the earliest Computer Learning Labs in a
Science Center, which included 24 networked Apple IIe
work stations.

It operated from June of 1983 until the Buhl
Planetarium closed in February of 1994. From June of
1983 to August of 1991, it provided open-computing
time to the general public, and to school groups,
during regular Buhl Planetarium hours, as well as
offering computer classes to the public and to special
groups. From September of 1991 to February of 1994, it
simply offered computer classes to the public and to
special groups, as an adjunct to the newly-constructed
Carnegie Science Center [which, originally, was not
built with a computer lab], a mile away.

Let me know if you wish further information on Buhl
Planetarium's original Computer Learning Lab.
