We are also in the process of doing Halloween related activities. To go
along with what Ilka had said, the Grossology books also had fake wounds.
You use petroleum jelly, cocoa powder and facial tissues. We have had LOTS
of success with this activity. It is truely disgusting and therefore
awesome! In fact, we've even used it during a safety event and after they
made the fake wounds on thier skin, they had to properly bandage them (with
Team Member assistance).
Also, check into the ASTC Listserv archives
(http://home.ease.lsoft.com/archives/isen-astc-l.html). That's where I found
tons of ideas for Halloween activities. One especially that our Visitor
Programs Director is totally geeked about is a suggestion from Jonah Cohen.
He modified a Penn and Teller (from "Penn & Teller's How to Play In
Traffic") trick of taking peoples pictures with a ghost. It uses a modified
polaroid camera and one of your Team Members dressed up as a Ghostbuster.
Absolutely hysterical!
Good luck with your event!

This doesn't really qualify as a hands-on activity (more of a demo) but
the Penn & Teller book "How to Play with your Food" includes directions
on how to fake having bitten into an apple spiked with razors. Now that's
the Halloween spirit!
