Some good resources on afterschool programming and related evaluation.

Bob Russell, Learning Experience Design

On September 22-23, 2005, Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP), with
support from the C. S. Mott Foundation, convened the After School Evaluation
Symposium, with over 100 researchers, evaluators, policymakers, and practitioners
in Washington, D.C. The goal of the 2-day meeting was to bring together the
perspectives of diverse stakeholders to inspire new ideas and foster stronger
links between research, practice, and policy.

The newly expanded conference presentations section of our website now
highlights key themes and resources from the Symposium. These resources include an
executive summary with the current state and future directions for the after
school field, key themes from the plenary sessions and group discussions,
and audio files of the panelists’ presentations. They highlight participants’
insights about key issues facing the after school field, notably issues of
access, program quality, professional development, the role of evaluation
research, and systems-building efforts.
