An interactive museum about the world

Position Notice: Museum Educator

 

Exploris, an interactive global museum, is dedicated to engaging visitors in
our changing and interconnected world. Located in downtown Raleigh, North
Carolina, Exploris engages visitors through interactive exhibits, programs
and films that explore our inter-connections with people around the world.
The museum program includes exhibit halls and programs, an IMAX theatre, and
Exploris Middle School, a charter school focusing on global education.

 

Exploris seeks a dynamic museum educator with strong program development and
teaching experience in a school, museum, or other education setting. 

 

Responsibilities include:

*         Conducting informal programs on the exhibit floor with diverse
audiences; 

*         Developing school group demonstrations with a theatrical flair

*         Managing exhibit areas-includes developing and delivering programs
for the exhibit areas and maintaining exhibit activity areas. Exhibit areas
include People & Places (cultural connections), Living in Balance
(environmental connections), Tradeworks (economic connections), Many Voices
(global communications and getting involved), and a variety of traveling
exhibit topics.

*         Working with colleagues to develop additional innovative programs
that meet the needs of the museum's visitor base.

 

Qualifications

*         Bachelor's degree in museum studies, education, the humanities or
social sciences

*         3 years professional experience developing programs and teaching
in a museum, school or other informal education setting

*         Proven interest in and commitment to global education and engaging
people in our changing and interconnected world

*         Superior multi-tasking and time management skills

*         Successful candidates will be self-motivated, forward-looking and
creative, quick to respond to changing circumstances, and will view this
position as an opportunity to test new ideas  

*         Intermediate skills in MS Office and the Internet

*         Prefer experience living or working outside the US

 

Schedule

This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position.  Some holiday work is required.
