Ann...

I wonder if you have any pictures of this activity in action that you'd be willing to send me? It sounds intruiging, but I'm having a hard time picturing it....

thanks
AD

Hi-

We do a great construction activity with the rubber foam, more durable plastic "Styrofoam" and plastic golf tees. The plastic Styrofoam can be found at electronic stores. The plastic golf tees and construction tools come from www.lakeshorelearning. More construction toys and clothes can be found at www.kaplan.com.

It's basically pounding and prying, but you can encourage structure building with different sizes of foam. Challenge the visitors to figure out ways to nail two pieces together that are wider than the nails - at an angle! You can also discuss balance and stability in structure design. The only draw back is that visitors can't take it with them if you don't locate a lot of the foam.

Hope this helps! Good Luck with the real construction!
