Check Amazon-dot-com for Craig Bohrens' excellent little book, "Clouds in a glass of beer" . It is a stimulating look at many simple meteorological-related experiments and their interpretation.

Subject: weather: ideas please?

I'm looking for suggestions on simple activities to do about the
weather...anythign about why/how weather happens, how to "make your own"
weather, weather instruments, etc.

Limits:
*Our audience is pretty young (read, short attention span) so anything that
says "Wait 1/2 hour" is just not going to fly.
*We're really not supposed to use matches. I know a lot of activities want
you to heat things with a match or bunsen burner, but that's kind of a
no-no.

Thanks for any ideas. Please feel free to respond off-list.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny..." --Isaac
