When I was at Spirit of Ford, we had a pit stop experience with a
retired NASCAR race car.. One kid jacks up the car and two other kids
change tires -- you need to have strong safety features designed into
the installation. It was something I saw at the NASCAR museum in
Daytona. I thought it was great -- kids cheering, lots of energy and
when done right great opportunities to teach about automobiles, team
work, economics of racing, science, technology, etc. Adults loved it
too. You might also make some money taking digital pictures of the kids
in front of the car and maybe in the overalls, if you've got them. We
didn't do this, but it could work.

I will say that it is quite expensive to pull together and it takes a
special demo team to pull it off, but it could work for you or maybe
this will give you other ideas that would be more easily doable. But if
you can find a sponsor, find a car, and inspire your team to take it on,
I think it's worth the investment. It's certainly one of the
experiences that kids remember for a long time.

When Spirit of Ford closed a few years ago, the car and the props went
over to COSI Toledo. Some of you folks from COSI might want to chime
it. They're a little closer to it than I am and I'm sure have something
to say about how well it works for them. Feel free to tell the group
that I'm totally off base!!!!!!!!!

Happy Nascaring,
