The Nov Contemporary Pediatrics, in the Behavior "ask the experts" section there is a question on getting babies to sleep, specifically the problem of 6 month olds when the writers advice of "cry it out" results in the infant vomiting. Kathi Kemper MD answered and among things feels infants often experience hunger and distress beyond what adults would tolerate, discusses that advice must agree with parents cultural believes and suggests parents consider co-sleeping and recommends William Sears' book on sleep. I called her at Boston Children's today and left her a message that I loved her response.
