I still think that this is connected with our civil liberties, but I accept
there are child health issues in many aspects of parenting, and I certainly
would not accept that a parent has a right to beat a child in the interest
of discipline , or to withhold food and drink or to neglect the child.

Children have civil liberties too!

But when it comes to deciding who is 'allowed' to breastfeed and who isn't,
the state and the medical profession is nowhere near a definitive state of
knowledge.

So the only logical, and democratic,  position is to share what knowledge
there is with parents and let them decide.
