Can some of you who work in hospitals that have level 4 nurseries please email me (and post to the list) your list of criteria for when baby has to be separated from mom? Especially hospitals that have gone to mother-baby care and rooming in. I am on a committee that is overseeing a transition to mom-baby care and the initial list of criteria for separation seemed rather inflexible. (or as the ped. rep. told us, "About 90% of our babies fall under this criteria." i.e. every baby is sick until proven otherwise!!!) I have tried to do an archive search in case this has been covered before but had no luck. I think we need examples from other teaching hospitals that take high risk mothers and babies and offer rooming in or are Baby Friendly, Family-Centered,... Thanks!
