TTN = Transient tachypnea of the newborn = "wet lung" = "RDS Type II.
Infants sometimes don't clear all their normal lung fluid from in utero
immediately.
Most common with term infants (mature lungs) born by C-section WITHOUT labor,
Usually, mild, <72hrs but can turn ugly if ignored and coupled with pulmonary
hypertension or really a misdiagnosed pneumonia. Your patient probably
doesn't have BOTH, but may be on antibiotics just in case. Can't tell th
difference at first by X-ray.
