I saw the same article and thought the same thing. Since it only mentioned breastfeeding once in connection to rising rates of jaundice, it
appeared that breastfeeding was the cause.  The article failed to
distinguish adequately the two types of jaundice.

I'm reading Dr. Galland's Superimmunity for Kids, and he makes the same
mistake--not adequately differentiating b/w the two types.

The newspaper article said jaundice was rare in the 1950s and 1960s (that
preceded the breastfeeding statement). Does anyone know if that is true, and if so, is it true that early hosp. discharge and breastfeeding (as
the article said) have contributed to the increase?
