Pam, In my experience most military doctors are not receptive about anything relating to women and our health, childbirth, breastfeeding, etc. You have to realize that these doctors are awaiting the day they've been trained for. I was a military spouse for almost ten years and in the time I had nursing babies I couldn't find a supportive military doctor. I also worked as the Breastfeeding Specialist in an overseas military hospital and although I had several doctors that would refer to me they still wouldn't necessarily hand out accurate info. or be supportive to their patient. There are some good military doctors but not many. My best suggestion for the mom you are working with is for her to seek out a civilian doctor and get it paid for by Champus. I don't wish to cause flames regarding my opinion about military doctors as I realize that there are some good ones out there, I know them personally. Good luck, it seems that the Red Tape is always the stickiest. Evi, I'm with you all the way. I often tell people the best way to deal with an issue that is touchy is to use lots of humor, I also tell that to the moms that I work with. Besides, I need a good laugh all the time my life is to busy and serious at times. Mimi LLLL Columbia, SC.
