Re  : Using Fluconazole topically

As for using Diflucan Liquid topically on the nipple,  we should not assume
that this would be active as no topical forms are available,  and it is
primarily intended for oral use. I don't know, but it also probably very
distasteful.

As for whether Diflucan is preferred over the older antifungals, I would
say yes (when compared to the other triazole antifungals), primarily
because of its better safety profile, and the fact that it is actually
cleared for pediatric use, and has a safety profile down to one day of age.
For these reasons alone, it should be preferred over most other
antifungals, with exception of Mycostatin(nystatin) which has a long and
safe record in pediatrics, but rather poor efficacy.
