Hi All, Haven't recieved a response ddirected towards the specifics of my question posted earlier this week. But thanks to all who responded woth personal accounts. However, they did not relate to my clients specific case. To recap: Mom has a tumor/cyst on her thyroid gland. The cyst does NOT affect the thyroid. Thyroid works just fine. Her Dr wants her to take 50 mg of Synthroid per day (what he says is the avg amount the thyroid normally produces) to STOP her thyroid from producing its hormones. His hope is that this will cause the tumor/cyst on the thyroid gland to shrink. A different Dr wants her to avoid the drugs and just do surgery to remove the tumor/cyst. Mom is BF her 11 mo old several times a day and is very concerned about the effects this drug may have on baby. She knows that f her thhyroid was not working fine the Synthroid would be ok, but in this case the thyroid IS working just fine. Mom also has a history of hormonal (not thyroid) imbalance probs and is concerned about what this may do to her systems balances. Please, any info relating to the specifics would be appreciated. Mom is considering not taking the meds, saying she did aand that they didn't work, and talking the Dr into letting the other Dr (the one who doesn't want her on drugs because she is BF) go ahead with the surgery. TIA! Jay
