Just because I'm married to an Ob-gyn and have some time on my hands
& a whole bunch of medical books & dictionaries.....
Caesarean - pertaining to Caesar - as in Caesarean conquest
Caesarean section - the baby is taken from the uterus by cutting
through the walls of the abdomen & uterus - so called because it was
supposedly performed at the birth of Caesar.
Caesarean hysterectomy ( required in about 1 in 130 ceasarean
sections) to control haemorrhage due to uterine rupture or as
elective surgery for sterilization.
c-section - used in coding up caesarean sections to save time and
further define what kind of caesarean the doc is talking about.
section -a part that is cut off - Ugh Please....
and all babies are Born....and have a name...as should the mom in
"whatever room she is in"
Caesarean Sections are major surgery and my husband treats his
patients with all the care he would give to another patient with
major abdominal surgery. The hysterectomy patient in "whatever room"
has a name also.
Everything is soooo political today....Karen Elise Graham
