Speaking of Childbirth, does anyone out there know where I can get a copy of Gail Brewers book, "Nine Months, Nine Lessons" ? This book has been out of print since 1983 or so, I read it when I had my last child 10 years ago. I borrowed it from our local public library. Gosh, had I known that the publisher wasn't going to re-issue it, I would have bought several copies. Any time I pass a used book store, I pop in to look for the book. The perinatal educator at work has a copy that she obtained long ago. I'd love to add this to my library, and if you get a chance to read it, please do. There's an excellent description of transition, and those of us who've gone through it will know just how accurate it is!, and an overview of how women through the ages dealt with contractions. I used some of the techniques, even though I had a hosp. birth (attended by a midwife, Joanne Middleton, who certainly didn't keep her hands in her pockets and knows how to massage a perineum!). Thanks, Joanne! Don't we gals just love to talk about our birth experiences ad nauseum?? Pearl Shifer [log in to unmask]
