>>How about ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit)? Does anyone know of any correlation between the high number of currently diagnosed ADD kids and their method of feeding?<< I'm not sure if there was anything behind this question, but you all might like to know that Gary Ezzo asserts that there are more cases of "ADD" children because more children are being demand-fed! His answer would be that demand feeding is the *cause* of much of what we call ADD, and that their ADD behavior is *learned*, and not a chemical imbalance or other physical problem. To paraphrase the 3rd edition of PREPARATION FOR PARENTING, "95% of all diagnosed ADD/ADHD cases are actually the result of demand feeding practices and permissive parenting." As the mother of one ADHD child, the first and only of my four children, I take exception to this as I know a lot about ADD. But *true* ADD often responds to stimulants that would wind the average person up tighter than a top, disproving the "learned' theory. This may not be what the question was referring to, but I just had to throw this in anyway! -Lisa Marasco, IBCLC [log in to unmask] / [log in to unmask]
