This was a topic being discussed over the holidays, and I had mean't to
respond but forgot.

I tend towards dry skin myself, and it gets worse depending on
seasons/environment. Central heat/air conditioning, severe weather, etc all
can be factors. Frequently the most protected parts of my body seem to be
the most affected. I have had to be diligent in my use of a moisturizing
bath oil, something similar to Alpha-Keri, I use the cheap generic versions,
because I go through it fast. I use it as a skin cleanser in the shower,
avoiding soaps, and I also avoid soaks in the tub [ :-( ].

I have had a number of lactating and pregnant moms call over the years with
'sore nipples', which they frequently end up describing as the whole breast
being 'itchy' or sensitive, that clues me into dry skin being the underlying
problem. I have found that recommending that they try a moisturizing oil as
a part of their bath routine solves the problem.
