Hi Rosemarie-- Nice to see another Albertan on lactnet! I just finally got things figured out (I hope) but got bumped off yesterday because I hadn't retrieved my mail for a couple of days. I can see the e-mail is going to become more of a habit! My heart goes out to you when I hear what births are like in your hospital (and I admit to some embarrassment that this kind of situation still exists in Alberta). You definitely have a ton of work ahead of you, and a massive re-education of your local doctors! You have found a wonderful resource (lactnet), though, and people here can give you continued support as you work your way through the myriad of changes your hospital needs. I also live in a rural area with a small hospital, but we definitely have a whole lot better birthing atmosphere. Your doctors had better hope no midwives move in or they won't have any business. If it would help, I could e-mail you the phone # of one of our local doctors who is very progressive re: birth and breastfeeding. I'm sure she would discuss this with you. **Leslie** (Leslie Ayre-Jaschke: Peace River, Alberta, Canada) Leslie Ayre-Jaschke, BEd, IBCLC Peace River Breastfeeding Clinic, Peace River AB Canada e-mail <[log in to unmask]>
