I've read that nursing on only one breast might actually help a lactose
intolerant baby, at least if the mom has an abundant milk supply.
The theory is that if the baby is switched from one breast to the other,
especially before the hind milk lets down, his stomach empties rapidly and
and dumps large amounts of lactose-rich foremilk into the gut, thus
intensifying the response to lactose. If he feeds on only one breast, he
gets more fat, which slows gastric emptying and decreases the problems
associated with lactose intolerance. Anybody else heard of this?
