Cynthia Payne suggests we all get together for lunch at LLLI. The only lunch I will have there is Sunday's, when I will be the "star attraction" at one of the Speaker's Tables for the conference lunch. If any of you are planning to attend that and hadn't picked out another speaker you particularly wanted to sit with, please come sit with me! I'm still not comfortable with this role of "celebrity" AT ALL, and envision myself all alone at my table :( One of my friends had a friend in New York who was an anthropology teacher at a community college and who had come across my book on my research in West Africa, and used it in one of her classes. She was asking her friend if she knew me, and when my friend said "Oh sure, I know Kathy" the woman from New York was SO IMPRESSED, and my friend laughed and said "She's just a regular person, you know. She puts her pants on one leg at a time!" BTW, I will have a small supply of home-made "James McKenna Fan Club" buttons with me in Chicago. He is one of my favorite people/researchers, and I convinced him to send me a picture without telling him what I wanted it for (now that's trust!). He will be at the conference, speaking on Sunday morning, and again opposite one of my talks (Sunday afternoon or evening). If anyone wants a James McKenna Fan Club button, look for me at his Sunday morning talk. I am about 5'8" tall, medium-large, with shoulder-length brown hair and glasses, and otherwise nondescript. I will be without family for that session, but I'll be the one with the James McKenna Fan Club button on :) Kathy D. Katherine A.
