Marilee:

Due to lack of budget, at the Mexican hosp. here that are Baby Friendly and
have totally eliminated artificial nipples, they often use the baby-bottle
itself, SANS rubber nipple.

In one hosp. I saw small 1 oz. little opaque plastic cups that had a
slightly bevelled (slanted or flanged) edge opening the cup a bit wider.
The only drawback to these tiny cups is their small capacity...especially
with full term infants. I had babies literally slurp 2-3 oz. in just a
couple minutes. Amazing!

I have found when teaching this technique to new parents and/or
grandmothers, e that they are comfortable with the bottle (which is
unfortunately so very familiar) and I just tell them to be sure to place
the part without the screw thread to the baby's mouth. There is less
leakage or dripping this way.

I like your idea of 'hunting' in the kitchen with the family for just the
right container for this method of infant feeding.
