LatchMe is a new app that can help IBCLCs to market themselves. IBCLCs often voice concern about how challenging it is to get their name out there to referral sources and to new mothers. It is also important for mothers to get the right level of care. The LatchME app is a way for new mothers to find an IBCLC in their area. IBCLCs can list themselves on the app for free. LatchME is offering an option to list as a "verified IBCLC" which means that LatchMe personnel have gone to the IBLCE website to ensure that the person is, indeed, credentialed as an IBCLC. Since LatchME takes no money from industry---they are WHO code compliant---the fee to be listed as a "verified IBCLC" covers the cost of staff to do the checking and helps to support the site. So what does the out-patient IBCLC get out of LatchME? An opportunity to be listed, for FREE, on an app for potential clients that has already been downloaded over 15,000 times, and the completely optional ability to be listed as a "verified IBCLC", which further promotes the credential.
