The onus is on HIM to provide evidence that his position (which is a
pharmacological intervention) is safe and effective.  Call him on it.  Look
at Paula Meiers' work with VLBW babies.  This will point out that the reason
these kids have short guts is that they were fed foreign proteins which set
up a systemic infammatory response that led to NEC.  Then ask him to
demonstrate that further artificial feeding will not cause further
complications.
